The Burn Foundation recently donated $3100.00 for a research study to be completed by
Shriners Burn Hospital in Boston.
This research will specifically determine the relationship between supplemental selenium
(an essential dietary nutrient and antioxidant)
and markers of selenium status and infection rates among pediatric patients with burns.
Results may play a major role in reducing infection rates among future pediatric burn patients.
On Sunday June 8th John Cetrino, President of the Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation
presented a check in the amount of 500.00 to Gary and Mona Zizi.
The presentation was made at a fundraiser organized by PINCH and held at the Healey Library,
U-Mass Boston. The Zizi family tragically lost two of their six children December 29, 2007
when fire swept through their Bellevue Street home in Dorchester.
